MY CAPTAIN MORONI
Many of you are familiar with the Book of Mormon story about Captain Moroni found in Alma 48 . If not, let me tell you a little bit about him. He was a hunk. And not in the way most would assume. But in the way that most men these days lack. Honor. Bravery. Integrity. Love & loyalty.
I came upon this scripture:
"...if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men."
Wow. Now that is a man. And what made me smile as i reread this was the note I had written in the margins when I was a teenager :
"FUTURE HUSBAND" (with a few hearts doodled next to it)
The picture above shows Captain Moroni with a flag he made. When he heard that his freedoms were about to be taken away, he became so angry that he tore his own coat, fastened onto a pole and wrote:
"In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children."
Passionate much??
The scriptures describe him as "a strong and a mighty man." A "man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people." "Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ."
I dreamed of finding a man like that.
And you know what? I did. I knew it when I first met him that Tait was no ordinary guy . I knew it when he walked 3 miles to go borrow his brother's car so he could drive me to the store just a few days later. I knew it in the way he opened car doors for me & waited a whole month to kiss me.
Honor. Bravery. Integrity. Love & loyalty. And I have known it every day since, as I watch him & the way he interacts with the people all around him. He is, and always will be, my Captain Moroni.

That's so cute what you wrote in the scripture margins! And you definitely DID marry a Captain Moroni. Seriously.
Have you ever thought about Captain Moroni's wife? I have. About how hard and scary it must have been to watch her sweet, young husband, command the Nephite Armies. She must have been so proud of him, yet no doubt, felt those same desperate, sad feelings at saying goodbye everytime he donned that armor, and left for war. And we know he had a wife, because that's the core of these great men, their families. Think of her there with you when you're feeling sad and scared for Tait. Think of her saying you can do it, you can be brave, your own Captain is worth it, and you're making him proud, protecting the most important thing in the world to him, his children. What an amazing pair you make.
