ESCAPE ARTISTS
So we switched the locks on the kids' doors. Yep, I'm the type of parent to lock my kids in their rooms if need be. If Izzy just won't stay in her room during nap time. If Chase is getting sassy & talking back when in time out. Or if I just need a few hours to myself... (just kidding on that one.) But for the past couple of days, Izzy (the one who most frequently visits time-out) has been getting out of her room. I checked the locks & the hinges. I was even doubting myself- like maybe I had forgotten to turn the lock. So I decided to investigate. And when I heard the telltale sound of Izzy sneakily opening up her door, guess what I found in her hand? These:
Toy keys. I'm serious. They actually work. I had the kids demonstrate for me. It turns out that Chase, her accomplice, had been slipping her the keys the whole time. I would've been irate, but the situation was too darn funny to keep serious. Sadly, though, the keys have been tossed out.

hiLARious.
miss you.
wish my rugrats could play with yours this afternoon.
I would have laughed too. Sometimes kids are just too funny to disipline. I might have even saved them on my own keychain, which I'd then hang up high where little hands can't reach them.
Thank you for the birthday card. It was by far my favorite, I loved it, which is unfortunate as I must rip off the front to use as a bookmark, just as you suggested. I love you so much.
By the way, I never plan on growing out of silly romantic teenage girl books. I plan to read them with you when we're older than Edward. Want a new suggestion? Try The Lonely Hearts Club. You'll love it. It's on my goodreads list if you want the author.
Your kids are too clever and working as a team too. They crack me up.
I remember thinking it was strange that a family I baby-sat for had locks on the outside of their children's rooms, but then I became a parent. We have to lock Cianna in for time-out too. One day, however, she thought it would be a fun joke to lock me into her room with her. Poor crawling baby Immy was stuck in the hall and, unfortunately, Cianna's lock is not so easily undone from the inside. It requires a small screw driver inserted and twisted, which of course, wasn't in her room. After a short period of complete torture and many failed attempts to pick the lock, we were rescued by our neighbor across the street.
